Multidisciplinary Peer-Mentoring Groups Supporting Knowledge Sharing in Doctoral Education

Obtaining a doctoral degree requires acquisition of different types skills and knowledge. The aim this article is to explore multidisciplinary peer-mentoring groups (PMGs) facilitated by senior academics as knowledge sharing practice in education. Drawing from interviews with participants PMGs at Finnish university, we found that the perceived cultures practices education departments faculties, well limited support supervisors might hinder sharing. They highlighted flat hierarchy confidential atmosphere supported group composition promoted emotional support. Based on these results, argue are useful resource for facilitating amongst researchers thus have capacity benefit individual organisation whole.
